CE marking
The CE Marking holds significant importance in the context of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) or drones as it indicates compliance with European Union (EU) safety and regulatory standards. Obtaining the CE marking demonstrates that a UAS/Drone meets essential requirements related to design, manufacturing, and functionality regarding health, safety, and environmental protection.
For UAS/drone manufacturers, obtaining the CE marking serves as a passport for Market Access within the EU.
ALTER is a leading testing facility that specializes in performing CE marking testing. We offer testing services to manufacturers seeking to obtain CE certification for their products. Our team of experienced engineers and technicians conducts thorough assessments to verify conformity with relevant EU directives, helping clients navigate throughout complex regulatory requirements and access European markets confidently.
Applicability of the CE marking on UAS/Drones
Knowing that UAS/Drones are systems to be considered as products that can be commercialized within the European Union, the CE marking guarantees that a product meets the requirements necessary to be sold and enjoy free circulation in the European market.
Furthermore, as applicable, the Class Identification Label is now a mandatory component of the CE marking for UAS/Drones in the European Union. Since January 1st, 2024, the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945 has been entered into force establishing requirements for the design and manufacture of UAS/Drones intended to operate under the regulations and conditions defined in Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947, including Remote Identification Add-Ons.
The Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945 is part of the CE Marking.
CE marking process
It’s important to keep in mind that obtaining the CE marking is the responsibility of the manufacturer or its authorized legal representative.
For a product to bear the CE marking, the product manufacturer must declare, under its sole responsibility, the product’s conformity with all the requirements laid down in the applicable Community Directives on a Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
CE marking testing
CE marking testing is a process aimed at ensuring that products meet the health, safety, and environmental protection standards set by the European Union (EU) legislation.
Our commitment to quality and reliability has made ALTER a trusted partner for companies across industries seeking to ensure compliance with CE marking standards, mainly in aerospace, automotive, defense, and UAS/Drone sectors.
