After these steps have been taken, an integral product conformity assessment will occur. Depending on the conformity assessment procedure, this assessment shall be carried out by a Notified Body. According to the European Commission, a notified body is an Organisation designated by an EU country to assess the conformity of certain products before being placed on the market. These bodies carry out tasks related to conformity assessment procedures set out in the applicable legislation, when a third party is required. A Notified Body must be independent of the organization it assesses, and it shall be capable of carrying out the conformity assessment task assigned to it.

Once the tests have been successfully executed, and the conformity assessment procedure is over, the manufacturer can affix the CE Marking, which in some cases shall be followed by the identification number of the notified body.
