ENAC certified ALTER to carry out conformity assessment of drones in the open category. Now, they want to extend it to the specific category.
Luis Gómez, ALTER’s CEO, has interviewed Infodron.es, talking about the accreditation given for ENAC to ALTER to carry out the conformity assessment of drones in the open category (C0-C4 classes) and direct remote identification accessories. This accreditation makes ALTER the first Notified Body in the world for the Regulation 2019/945.
According to Regulation 2019/945, there are several routes to assess the conformity of drones, being each route a module. ALTER is accredited in the modules: B (that covers the design phase) and C (that covers the production phase, and that follows module B).
Luis Gómez, who has a long professional career in the aerospace sector, states that the company is currently working on getting the accreditation to assess drones in the specific category (C5 and C6). According to European Regulation, this will occur when the procedures and verification criteria are defined.
ALTER has been working with drones since 2014 in very different types of projects ranging from the development of rescue, positioning, and inspection technologies to the participation in national and international standardization committees.
The latest achievement of the company, the accreditation already mentioned, is the result of a hard work of several months that has involved a multidisciplinary team of people that has developed new testing procedures and capabilities to meet the requirements and ensure the security of drones.
ALTER will keep working to offer the best services to its clients, guaranteeing the safety of drones placed in the European market and implementing the best practices as a Notified Body.
