Radio Equipment Directive (RED) testing
Product Safety testing plays a crucial role in ensuring consumer well-being, regulatory compliance, and maintaining the reputation of manufacturers. This involves rigorous testing, inspections, and certifications to meet consumer product safety standards. By identifying potential hazards and defects, this process ensures that products are safe for consumers, preventing legal issues and building trust in the manufacturer’s commitment to delivering secure and reliable products.
ALTER has more than 30 years of experience in testing and equipment certifications, offering engineering solutions to ensure the quality, reliability, safety, and performance of products of highly demanding industries.
ALTER has years of experience in equipment testing and certification, offers tailored engineering solutions and testing plans to ensure the quality, reliability, safety, and performance of products in high-demand industries. Our suite of services includes RED testing in accordance with the applicable Directives and standards, facilitating compliance with regulatory requirements, such as the CE marking.
Accredited entity to perform RED testing
In Europe, the RED directive 2014/53/EU is mandatory for all equipment marketed in the European Union and establishes all the essential requirements related to electrical safety, health protection, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
ALTER is designated by the European commission as Notified Body – NB 2031 to offer a full RED testing service, according to the main regulations, making it particularly relevant for sectors such as the UAS/Drones industry.
In addition, we are a testing laboratory, accredited by ENAC, according to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Standard with number 345/LE808 to perform compliance testing according to most of these regulations. Likewise, our extensive experience and flexibility allows us to successfully adapt to the execution of customized or tailor-made test plans.
RED Testing applicability
RED Testing is applicable for a wide range of electronic devices and equipment that intentionally emit or receive radio waves. This includes radio equipment categorized as electrical or electronic product intentionally emitting and/or receiving radio waves (electromagnetic waves with frequencies below 3 THz propagated in space without artificial guide) for the purpose of communication and/or radiodetermination (determination of position, velocity, or other characteristics and related information).
Some of Radio equipment:
- Wifi
- Bluetooth, BLE
- GNSS
- NFC, RFID
- GSM, LTE
- Multi-Radio
- Alarm Systems ZigBee
- Z-Wave
- TETRA
